William Swinburne, couples counseling, therapy, nh

Dr. William J. Swinburne

Dr. Swinburne helps individuals and couples cope with and resolve painful issues in their lives.

You or your partner may be dealing with depression, anxiety, anger, stress or potentially self-destructive behaviors, such as an increase in alcohol consumption.  Many of these problems and symptoms are influenced by long-standing issues.  Also, your experience of crises in your life, such as divorce, loss of a job, or the death of a loved one, is powerfully affected by earlier experiences, making the present situation that much harder to resolve.

After receiving his doctorate in clinical psychology from New York University, Dr. Swinburne obtained further clinical training from The Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute. He is a graduate of their Advanced Training Program in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. Dr. Swinburne has over 30 years of clinical experience working with individuals and couples. He entered private practice in 1980, specializing in counseling for depression and anxiety, and has offices in both Peterborough and Keene, NH.

"I help my clients to understand the underlying issues that are causing so much distress in their lives and to resolve the painful disappointments they may feel with themselves and others.  Many of the hurdles people encounter are the result of long-standing issues.  We work together on long-term and short-term solutions."
Dr. William J. Swinburne
